RECITAL ON THE RIDGEWAY – CELLOPHONICS

Bringing together four of the UK’s most accomplished cellists, Cellophonics blends virtuosity with a deep passion for the instrument. Christopher Allan, Michael Atkinson, Adrian Bradbury and Benedict Rogerson each bring a wealth of experience from prestigious orchestras, ensembles, and solo projects, and as a quartet have given concerts and presented courses for young, and not-so-young, cellists across the UK and in Ireland. They have recently discovered a lost cello quartet by York Bowen – the “English Rachmaninov” – which they plan to record alongside new commissions by composers including Guy Barker, Roderick Elms, Simon Baggs, Julia Simpson and Rowland Sutherland, all with the kind and generous support of the Ferrer and Hinrichsen Foundations. From operatic drama to the driving rhythms of jazz, their performances brim with warmth and sparkle with brilliance, an eclectic musical journey promising something for everyone!
